Comparison between iPhone 15 Pro and real cameras

While the iPhone 15 Pro Max already seems to be the most popular of all the new models presented by Apple this month, our colleagues at9to5Macwanted to compare its photo sensor with that of real SLRs. The result is clear: although the mobile sometimes does better in terms of natural light, the zoom or the precision are much better with a digital camera. But of course, all this also depends on each individual's parameters.

Natively, you should still know that the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the other phones in its collection are equipped with very effective photo presets. As with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra or the Pixel 7 Pro, it is often possible to obtain a good result from the first shot. But Apple regularly adds options to further perfect the poses, such asDepth control. L’iPhone 15 Pro Maxis, moreover, the only one to feature a 5x optical zoom – the iPhone 15 Pro is limited to 3x according to the official technical sheets.

What is the iPhone 15 Pro Max camera worth?

In total, we find no less than three photo sensors on the iPhone 15 Pro Max:

  • a forty-eight megapixel wide-angle main lens with f/1.78 aperture
  • a twelve-megapixel ultra-wide-angle with f/2.2 aperture
  • a twelve-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.8 aperture

To obtain better moving shots, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro also feature an optical image stabilization system by sensor movement. This is the second generation of the solution, only the first being offered on the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus.

The iPhone 15 Pro can also use thePortrait modetaking advantage of theNight mode, which improves brightness when it is dark. With this, the ProRAW format is also reserved for high-end models.
