In June 2022, during WWDC, Apple presentedthe outlines of iOS 16. The main change then targeted the lock screen which also had the right to widgets, a few years after the arrival of this functionality on the home screen. As the month of June approaches, rumors are becoming more and more specific regarding iOS 17 and the changes that could be made by the Apple brand to the operating system of its iPhones.
In order to get a clear idea of the new OS, Parker Ortolani, who works in particular for the American mediaThe Vergeproduced several conceptsd’iOS 17based on the most recurring rumors on the subject. According to his work, iOS 17 should not bring major new features, and Apple would focus above all on the refinement and optimization of already existing systems.
iOS 17: making something new out of something old
Ortolani explains that Apple should bring ever more customization within its OS, particularly with the widgets on the lock screen which are still today, with rare exceptions, compatible only with Apple's native applications.
Among the small features that could make their arrival, Ortolani is betting on the possibility of “sharing” your lock screen. By making them unique, Apple could create a small wallpaper market, with layouts each more original than the last.
Notifications, Live Activities and Siri

Still according to Ortolani's concepts, Apple should highlight notifications during the presentation of iOS 17. He explains that the latter have already had the right to a first change with iOS 16, the latter should then only be accelerated on iOS 17.
Live activities, a big new feature in iOS 16 and iPhone 14, should also be entitled to some changes. In particular, they could arrive on the home screen, which is not the case today (except with Dynamic Island and therefore the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max). By generalizing this model, Apple is working on carrying out several tasks simultaneously on the screen, a new area for Apple.
Finally, the last point addressed by Ortolani in his conceptual presentation,Siri. Apple's voice assistant has evolved a lot in recent years in an effort to catch up with Google and Amazon. The Cupertino company's two main competitors still have a head start, but Apple could return to the forefront within a few years.
