iOS 17 appeared recently, with itsbatch of new items, but also its share of bugs. Which is completely normal for a system that offers so many features. The most important thing is that corrections are made quickly afterwards.
Some new iPhone 15 users have reported some overheating issues (Pro models only) and other minor issues. Some of these were notablyresolved yesterday with the arrival of iOS 17.0.3, but not all.
Apple has done its best to resolve possible issues with this small update, but otherswill have to wait for iOS 17.1. This is particularly the case forbug affecting the Messages application search tool.
Where have they gone?
The problem is: When affected users transfer content from their old iPhone to the new one, the search tool in Messages only displays recent messages. This was notably reported by many members of the MacRumors forum.
One of them, writing under the pseudonym Morac, created a post to tell about his problem and ask for help: “I transferred my data from my old phone to an iPhone 15 Pro Max yesterday. As far as I know my messages have been forwarded, but I can't search for anything until around February 2022.»
Bug fixed in beta 2 of iOS 17.1
Good news for those affected by this bug in the Messages app. The testers ofthe second beta version of iOS 17.1have confirmed that old messages are now displayed correctly. The final version of iOS 17.1 should be rolled outat the end of the month.
Don't want to wait? The beta version is public!
If you are affected by this issue, but don't want to wait, you can install iOS 17.1 Beta 2. Be careful though, beta versions are not as stable as the final versions. There is therefore areal risk of malfunction or data loss. If you still want to give it a try,go hereto follow the procedure.
