Google is the default search engine for Safari on iOS, and for that Google pays Apple a pretty penny every year. However, iOS offers different alternatives like Yahoo, Bing and DuckduckGo.
The latter stands out from the others by its philosophy ofpreserve privacyand not store any personal information about users. DuckDuckGo justswitch to Apple Mapsfor its research results.
DuckDuckGo has just integrated Apple maps into its search results, replacing the old OpenStreetMap solution, which was less reliable.
The search engine also specifiesdo not store or share any information about the user's location, for example the IP address.
For users who do not want Google as their default search engine, it isvery easy to change to DuckDuckGowhich is more respectful of privacy.
To do this, you must go toSettings>Safari>Search engineand select the alternativeDuckDuckGo.
