Should we believe analysts' forecasts? Fact checking one year later!

Very recently, we discovered
what should beApple roadmap
for 2014 with a rather busy end of the year for the firm
Californian.

This is based on theMing-Chi analyst forecast
Kuo, recognized as rather reliable as a general rule. It is in fact in
contact with Apple subcontractors directly in Asia.

But, to be sure, we decided to come back for a year in
back, in 2013, to check if last year's forecasts have been
revealed to be accurate… or not:

As we indicated in the preamble inl’article
from last year published in January, the analyst had already seen
just in 2012 regarding the iPhone 5.

Now let's see for 2013:

iPhone

• iPhone 5s: The analyst had predicted the arrival of a
  iPhone 5s with a design similar to the 5 and the integration of an A7 processor.
  So far, nothing really difficult to announce, but he had as early as January
  indicated that the machine would integrate a fingerprint sensor in the
  bouton Home.Result: Correct!

• iPhone 5c: The so-called 'low-cost' iPhone at the time was supposed to
  look like the iPhone 5 with a plastic back and be offered in 6
  colors.Result: apart from the excess color, Exact
  !

iPad and iPad mini

• iPad: The 2013 iPad was to take the design of the iPad mini and
  became thinner and lighter.Result: Correct!
  The iPad Air once again confirmed the indiscretions brought together by
  the analyst.

• iPad mini: The mini version of the iPad was supposed to adopt a screen
  retina offering the same resolution as its big brother.
  Result: Correct!The second generation iPad mini
  was there.

Mac

• iMac: The range had to undergo a little 'refreshment', it was
  the case.Result: Correct!

• The MacBook Pro without a Retina display had to go. This was not the case
  but the range is no longer highlighted and is reduced to a single model.
  Result: almost correct!

• The MacBook Air was due for a little facelift with specifications
  techniques modified in particular with the arrival of a Haswell model. If the
  new design was not there, the Haswell MacBook Air was
  materialized.Result: Partially correct!

• Mac Mini: a new model was expected at the end of the year. We
  still waiting for it in 2014.Result: Incorrect!

iPod

• iPod Touch: The analyst saw little change
  but a 'low-cost' iPod touch without a camera and with less memory.
  Apple has actually released, but a little earlier than expected, a model without
  rear camera and with only 16 GB of storage.Exact Result
  !

• iPod nano: The range should have experienced a small
  refreshment, this was not the case.Result: Inaccurate
  !

One More Thing

• Apple TV: a refresh was planned for 2013.
  If we are to believe the latest rumors, the Apple TV should experience a
  evolution only this year with
  maybe a dedicated blind and visual control.Result :
  Inexact !

In short, when reading this report, if the analyst does not do it flawlessly, he
We have to admit that he was right most of the time. His reputation is not
therefore not usurped. This only gives more weight toproduct releases
planned for 2014.
