These Android features we would like to see on iOS

Last week, we highlightedpositive points ofiOSthat users of the competing operating system would like to see land on their platform. This time, let's do the same thing in reverse: what could Apple be missing to also attract Google users? Here is an anthology of the requests that come up most often around me or that I have noticed after an OS change:

  • be able to use theconversation bubblesoverlaying other applications (like Messenger andmaybe soon the call notification)
  • choose yourdefault browser as requested by the United States under competition regulation laws: Chrome and Firefox are still the most used
  • andback buttonto go back in apps that don't support swiping right
  • a removable battery; rare phenomenon for several years but which allows you to unlock a phone that is freezing instead of waiting for it to discharge
  • the ability to activate and deactivate theGPSin one click from the notifications bar rather than from the distant security settings menu (otherwise, Siri allows it by voice)
  • the end of the notch, not planned for 2020 according to the most recent rumors but which would allow you to see all of its notification pads at a glance, rather than displaying only a very small part of them

  • show all notifications on the lock screen permanently so you can access them as soon as you enter the iPhone rather than having to do it manually
  • l’installation d’“unknown source” applications: to personalize your mobile a little more, while remaining careful not to install malicious software
  • remove time-wasting double-click and Face ID validation for every download via the App Store
  • compatibility with more devices or services from other brands (for example, Google Maps only offers a few types of locations on iOS compared to many more on Android, and the Honor Magic Watch 2 and its app offer fewer features with iOS )
  • be able to delete a notification with a single swipe instead of two: twice as fast to clean everything!
  • andnon-protruding camerato avoid scratches on the sensor and to be able to place it on a table without worrying
  • display the caller's name even when they are not in our contacts (synchronizing their number with Maps could be a solution like Smart CallerID)

  • display the first and last names of contacts when using the call keypad in letter mode to avoid searching for them in the address book
  • launch power saving mode with a single click from thenotification barfor those who don't use Siri
  • searching for emojis in the keyboard like on the GBoard
  • more rows of icons on the home screen and an app drawer to store them more neatly
  • the suggestion of a favorite app or action when sharing based on user statistics

Finally, benefit from a button “download to my iPhone” from the App Store on computer as the Play Store does would allow you to do it even without having your mobile nearby, or if it is charging for example.
