iPhone 16 leak: photos confirm a big change

We relayed to you on February 17a supposed image of the iPhone 16having toured the web. The latter was posted by informant Majin Bu, who has proven to be a good source of information on several occasions, even if he sometimes makes mistakes.

Here, however, it seems that the image he posted is true, because it also matches the rumors spread byMacRumors earlier this month. As a reminder, it shows the supposed rear side of an iPhone 16, equipped with vertically aligned cameras, unlike previous versions where the lenses are diagonal. Here is the first photo:

Rumor confirmed?

Even today, an alleged photo related to theiPhone 16has just been published by Majin Bu. However, it is not directly a question of the telephone, but ofsmartphone mold, Whoseems to confirm the change in camera layoutpreviously announced.

The photo appears to show a metal mold machined using a CNC machine. According to rumors, this is the design that Apple chose to manufacture the iPhone 16. Be careful though, the change to observe in this photo only concerns the cameras. The grooves (notches/hollow lines) that can be seen on the mold are probably used to fix it on a vice.

Why this change?

The change in camera layout aims to allow future iPhone 16 owners to capture spatial videos, as on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The future Cupertino smartphone should also offer a larger screen in its basic version, again to allow support for spatial video. They should also offer a smaller action button, but also a new capture button.

All of these remain rumors, but by comparing the different sources and information, they are the most probable, but we still remain cautious about them. Apple could very well decide to change everything along the way. To learn more about the rumors regarding the iPhone 16, here is a selection of articles on the subject:
