After having mentioned the case of Procreate Dreams, let us introduce you to Quiche Browser. You will have guessed it from its name, this app, which arrived just this summer on the App Store, is a web browser – independent. Created by developer Greg de J, based in Tokyo, (Japan), the platform emphasizes customization. Safari is also making serious efforts in this area, particularly since iOS 14 and with the arrival of extensions. But in terms of design, Quiche Browser seems to be a significant step ahead.
Users can choose the background color of the app, for example with several shades of green or blue on the menu. But that's not all, since Quiche Browser also allows you to modify the appearance of the search bar or the order of the icons installed just below. For example, we find the shortcut to open a new tab, or the one that allows you to share a link through another app.
Quiche Browser: what about security?
The only downside, and not the least: Greg de J's status as an independent developer does not offer him as many advantages as the big names in the sector such as Google (Chrome) or Apple (Safari). Result: its app is probably less secure than the competition, but today many of us share sensitive data through browsers. These can therefore take the form of passwords, private photos, bank details, etc.

So, of course, like any third-party browser available on the App Store, Quiche Browser must run using Apple's WebKit rendering engine (although this is, it seems, about to change). What's more, the verification processes for updates submitted to the Cupertino app store provide additional security by scanning content for potential malware. With this, let us remember that hackers often attack targets that guarantee them more targets or possible income, in other words: the platforms of large publishers. But, despite everything, doubts regarding confidentiality remain with Quiche and other software of its size: caution.
Price, alternatives and availability of Quiche Browser
Speaking of alternatives, how can we not mention the case of Opera's recent major improvements? This browser, which is still among the most popular in the world, now uses artificial intelligenceto generate content on demand. Recently, it is alsothe Vivaldi app which was on the front page of our columns, with a tool available on both macOS and competing operating systems.
Quiche Browser, for its part, is now available for free on the App Store. And its paid version, Quiche+, only requires you to invest 99 cents to get it!
