This week, Apple created a surprise by unveiling new Macs. No keynote, however, since theMac mini M2and thenew MacBook Proswere made official via simple press releases. But regardless, these new computers include a number of interesting new features compared to previous generations. For example, regarding connectivity, the new Mac mini and MacBook Pro benefit from a new standard for Wifi: Wifi 6E.
Thanks to the use of a wider spectrum, this new version of Wifi allows for a faster connection, reduced latency, but also less interference. In essence, better connection quality, provided you have compatible hardware. And according to Apple, on the new MacBook Pros, Wifi 6E would be up to twice as fast as Wifi on the previous generation.
There's just a little problem
If you have a compatible router, you should therefore take advantage of these advantages of Wifi 6E mentioned by Apple on these new Macs (the technology is already available on the latest iPad Pros). However, for everyone to be able to take full advantage of this new standard on Mac, an update from Apple would still be necessary.
At least that is what is suggested by the company Inuitbits in its tweet. This offers solutions on Mac to, in short, analyze Wifi networks. And according to its recent publication, for the moment, its tools would not yet benefit from this arrival of Wifi 6E.
“Apple's new MacBook Pro supports Wi-Fi 6E. We introduced support for 6 GHz networks in our tools using remote sensors (e.g. WLAN Pi) in 2021. We look forward to finally supporting scanning, capturing and monitoring using the Wi-Fi 6E interface of the new MacBook Pro. Stay tuned!”, we read in the developer's publication.
Changes are needed in macOS and its frameworks for 3rd party apps to take advantage of the new 6E Wi-Fi interface. I'm hoping Apple will make those changes available as soon as possible.https://t.co/GMapX4vmH8

“Changes are required in macOS and its infrastructure for third-party applications to take advantage of the new Wi-Fi 6E interface. I hope Apple makes these changes available as soon as possible”, also specifies Adrian Granados who, according to his Twitter profile, is co-founder of Inuitbits.
Regardless, the arrival of Wifi 6E on Mac is very good news. And we hope that Apple will continue to extend the availability of this standard across its entire offering, including future iPhones.
