L’USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) is an American organization responsible for recording and validating or not thepatentsthat companies are trying to create. In France, it is the equivalent of the INPI. Across the Atlantic, the documents referenced by companies to protect their intellectual property are finally made public and accessible on an online database.
We thus realized thatApplereceived legal confirmation for one of its files last May, after having proposed it a little less than a year earlier. It was created by employees residing in California, which suggests that it has just come out ofits head officelocated in Cupertino.
What does this machine look like?
Concretely, the patent shows a panel much larger than that ofMacBook Airor Pro, a feature which currently only concernsiMac. The most interesting aspect lies in its form factor: the keyboard seems in fact linked to the screen to the point of forming only one and the same object adopting a curved line which does not seem impossible to achieve given the components flexible ones already available on the market.

Data accompanying the images specifies that the device may contain only onesingle layer of glassprotecting the GUI, but no mention of anywater resistance certificationis not present. A final drawing shows the same computer folded on itself to stick the glass against the keys, which could make itportable. Little additional information has been communicated, and it is always possible that this innovation will never arrive in stores if Apple ultimately decides not to design it.
