Safari: iOS 15.4 beta reveals an expected new feature for Safari

The next iOS update, number 15.4, is still in beta testing. We recently indicatedwhat new features it should include to date. However, the list is missing a change which has just been spotted in the web engine of the operating software.

Indeed, by inspecting WebKit, the kit underlying Safari, our colleagues at 9to5Mac spotted mentions referring to a “night mode”. These underpin the idea that Apple is looking to implement a dark display mode adjustable per web page.

In short, you could display a specific website in night mode and leave any other site in light mode. Or use certain web pages in night mode while the iPhone is in light mode.

However, for the moment, there is nothing to ensure that this new feature should be present in iOS 15.4. This could also be a first step for a longer-term implementation of the functionality, perhaps for iOS 16, expected in beta at least next June.

But even without that,iOS 15.4 already arrives loaded with new features. We will be able to be satisfied with its additions, while hoping that it will not bring (too many) bugs in return.

iOS 15.4 could be released this week in Release Candidate version, before a final version release next week, one or two days after a keynoteexpected for March 8. This should announce anew iPhone SEand a new iPad, according to the latest rumors.
