iOS 15: beta 2 available (developers)

Version 15 of iOS was announced a few weeks ago, during the last WWDC conference at the beginning of June 2021. Immediately after the keynote, the first beta version was made available. Developers were therefore quickly able to test the new features of iOS 15 on their iPhone, but also of tvOS 15, iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8, without forgetting macOS Monterey, the new version of the Mac OS.

Last night was abeta 2 for these OS that Apple has put online. It doesn't seemno major changes compared to beta 1. The Californian firm has probably eliminated many bugs and improved software performance. However, note the following improvements:

• SharePlay :activation of this new iOS and iPadOS 15 feature which allows several users to watch videos or listen to music via FaceTime
• Plans :new icon for Apple's mapping app
• Livres :new icon for the Apple app for reading eBooks
• Quick Note :the quick note-taking functionality can be used via a new shortcut, by swiping from the lower right corner of the screen
• Weather report :design improvement for the Weather widget
• iCloud Relay :new choice for the IP address of the home VPN allowing you to hide your IP with an IP from the same country. This helps keep local content accessible.
• Shortcut:new action allowing a shortcut to detect what is on the screen
• Memojis:new clothing customization options
• Portrait Dial:new watchOS 8 dial which allows you to use a photo from your photo library with a zoom effect on the person seen in the image.

All users with a developer account with Apple can install iOS 15 on iPhone, provided they havea compatible iPhone of course. The same goes for other OSes, including iPadOS 15 and watchOS 8.

If you do not have a developers account, you can still try to find a developers profile on the internet, but this is not without risk for your machine. We therefore prefer not to advise you on this manipulation. Better to wait for the release of public beta 1 to test the new features. Know that the latter will not happennot before July though.
