WithWWDC this week, Apple presents its new software products to developers and the general public. Among them, the star of the week is undoubtedly iOS 16. An essential operating system for enjoying CarPlay in certain vehicles, thedashboard interfacebeing cast directly from your mobile.
And it turns out that the program for drivers also received a major facelift during the Worldwide Developer Conference. With the main new feature being the ability to adapt to all panel sizes and to duplicate on several if necessary, as you can see in the image above. Unfortunately, we will have to wait untilfin 2023as soon as possible to find out which automobiles will be compatible. So you may not be able to test these improvements for two years…
What's changing this fall
Fortunately, Apple has also announced new features which will indeed be available in the fall in final version, such as iOS 16. In particular, it will be possible to automate the sending of messages withSiri, after the Apple's proprietary voice assistant has correctly read its content back to you for verification.
With this, additional categories of services compatible with CarPlay will land on the App Store. The publishers concerned are those offering information on theplein d’essence(electric recharging is already included), towing in the event of a breakdown or toll.
And the Titan project?
These announcements only bode well for theApple Car, name given by the media to the “Titan project” which would internally designate an autonomous and electric vehicle created by the manufacturer of the iPhone. With such CarPlay, it would seriously overshadow the competition, which sometimes also relies on Android Auto.
It is also rumored that this work could ultimatelybear fruit only through the publication of an operating system intended for other manufacturers, and not with a four-wheeled product. To be clear, be patient: it will not benot before the year 2024 or even more according to the Asian newspaperDigiTimes.
