Apple just presented two new iPad models at the beginning of last week. In addition to the iPad Pro, which attracts everyone's desire with its finesse andhis power, the iPad Air M2 is a very interesting model. A little less highlighted by Apple, this new version of the iPad “Air” (which is no longer the thinnest in the range) has serious sales arguments.
During a benchmark, the device reached new records for a model in this category.L'iPad Air M2does even better than some iPad Pros. As a reminder, the new iPad Air M2 has an 8-core processor with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, a 10-core GPU, a 16-core neural engine and 8 GB of RAM.
Apple offers this tablet in two different configurations, one 13 inches, the other 11 inches. The larger of the two models achieves a score of 2610 on a single core. Cumulativelythe tablet exceeds 9880. For comparison, the 10.9-inch iPad Air M1 only reached 8086 points.
The smallest version of the iPad Air displaysa multi-core score of 9861,that's almost as much as the 13-inch model. In terms of performance, the two iPads therefore seem to work equally well.
These numbers allow the iPad Air M2 to be more powerful than an iPad Pro. Indeed, the iPad Pro M1, presented by Apple in April 2021, displays a multi-core score of 8739 points. This is significantly less than this iPad Air M2. A difference which can be explained by the change of chip and the evolution of the latter. This performance gap is also noticeable between the MacBook Air M1 and M2 marketed by Apple for several years.
Apple's iPad Air M2 will be available from May 15. Its selling price has been set at €719 (minimum). It will cost €1219 forl’iPad Pro M4, also available from May 15.
