iPadOS: how the “quick notes” function could be declined

Launched a few months ago, iPadOS 15 presentssome new featureswho were able to hold the attention of the public. The main one is surely the integration of quick notes. Concretely, it allows you to create a note or modify it without having to open the Notes application. You are instead asked to write your text in a square located in the lower right corner.

While this contribution seems very useful, our colleagues from9to5macimagined an innovative concept which would use the principle of quick notes applied to other applications. They mention two main ones: the calculator and the weather forecast, two tools requested by iPad owners for years.

Many developers would be happy to take action

In the first case, the author believes that it is enough to drag it to the corner of the screen before carrying out simple calculations or equations, but also to copy/paste figures into documents. This device would be particularly useful when using apps such as Sheets, Numbers, or Excel, he explains.

The same goes for the weather which would reveal all its relevance when you are planning a trip or simply want to get out of the house. 9to5mac specifies: “Just drag the tool into a corner to check the forecasts.” Likewise, a simple button would allow you to open a context menu to juggle between these different tools.

Our colleagues go further and imagine adding features that would be accessible without opening them directly: web pages, modification of HomeKit commands, and why not Apple TV.

However, a generalization of this idea does not seem relevant to them either because certain applications require full screen use. The author concludes by explaining that he knows many third-party application developers who would be happy to take action to execute this idea. Before that, Apple would need to validate this project by providing an API allowing them to create these small floating windows.

For your part, do you find this concept relevant and would you dream of seeing it implemented soon?
