Apple is reportedly preparing anew design for the Face ID systemof theiPhone 16, also expected to arrive on iPhone 16 Plus. However, we do not know if this change will be visible to the naked eye. It is therefore entirely possible that the makeover only takes place under the hood, in other words behind the TrueDepth sensor which now allows biometric unlocking to work.
Face recognition arrived in 2017 on Apple mobiles, with the launch ofiPhone Xon the market. Its capabilities have since been praised by critics, often considered more effective than competing alternatives – at least initially. Unsurprisingly, Face ID should also be included on the front of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, expected at the same time as Apple's mid-range models this year.
Other new features in sight for the iPhone 16
The change in design of Face ID on iPhone 16 would only be the submerged part of an iceberg of new features for the iPhones of 2024. In fact, we assume in particular that the bouton Action iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will also appear on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus this year. In addition, the processor of these models promises to be more efficient than that of their predecessors. It should be a motherboard similar in properties to the A17 Pro chip.
On the back of the iPhone 15, we also assume that the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses will bealigned lengthwise, and no longer diagonally like today. But of course, these new features must also be considered with caution because Apple has not officially confirmed them at the moment.
