Dxomark has just taken a close look at the photo module of the new iPhone 16 Pro Max, which features a main sensor called the 48 Mpx “Fusion Camera”, a 48 Mpx ultra-wide sensor and a 12 Mpx telephoto sensor.The benchmark reveals that it is the fourth best performer in this area among smartphones on the market.The iPhone 16 Pro Max comes away with a score of 157 points, only ahead of the Honor Magic 6 Pro, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and the category champion, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra released last May.

Dxomark indicates that Apple's product is one of the best forcapture details, especially in daylight or under intense artificial lighting.The precise white balance and natural color rendering are also among the main qualities of the photo module of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.

On the other hand, testers do not consider that the 48 Mpx ultra-wide sensor really offers more details.Small downside, the 5x telephoto lens would not offer image quality superior to what the iPhone 15 Pro Max did either.They also regret the shallow depth of field leading to blurring of the background in group photos.
