The new iPhone SE 5G replaces the old model

As we approach thefirst keynote of the year, rumors were rife. One of the most persistent was that the next-generation iPhone SE would not replace its predecessor. Allowing the price of the 2020 smartphone to drop… But it failed. If Tim Cook has indeed announced an iPhone SE 5G this evening, this arrival will come at the expense of the previous model.

The new iPhone SE 5G takes the place of the old model

We almost believed it. This evening, during Apple's keynote, Tim Cook announced the imminent arrival of a new iPhone SE, equipped with the A15 Bionic chip and 5G compatible. You can find all the details of this new feature right here.

Rumors whispered that the Cupertino company could have kept the two iPhone SEs on the shelves, the new one with 5G and the one released in 2020, which would be even more affordable. Necessarily. For Mark Gurman, users could have benefited from a new iPhone SE for less than $200. But unfortunately, that's not what happened.

Indeed, against all odds, you can say goodbye to the iPhone SE of 2020. As when the latter took the place of the very first generation of the product, the iPhone SE 5G eclipses its predecessor. On Apple's official website, only the new iPhone SE remains.

This new model, faster and more efficient, is available from 529 euros while the old model was available from 489 euros. There is a difference of 40 euros between the two smartphones but with better performance thanks to the A15 Bionic chip and its 5G compatibility, it is not expensive to pay in the end. It is available for pre-order from Friday, and hits stores on March 18.
