The paths of Apple and Jony Ive cross again. The English designer worked for Apple for decades, becoming vice-president of the latter. When he left in 2019, the man many consider one of the fathers of the iPhone left a big void.
Today Jony Ive works in the automotive world with his company LoveFrom. But he recently added his name to an animated short film as a producer. With “the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse”Jony Ivetakes Charlie Mackesy's story and brings it to life.
The film is expected to be based on illustrations by Mackesy himself while the official character voices will be performed by Tom Hollander, Idris Elba, Gabriel Byrne and Jude Coward Nicoll. Apple announced during the presentation of this short film that it would be available for the holiday season worldwide.
Broadcast for Christmas
The Cupertino company seems to have entered into a partnership with the British television channel BBC for an exclusive broadcast on December 25 in the United Kingdom. The film will therefore arrive one day late on the English versiond’Apple TV+. As for Mackesy, the author of this bestselling book admits to living “a dream” by seeing his children’s story come to life like this.
In a statement made to the press, he thanks all the people who worked with him on this project. As for Jony Ive, the designer did not make a public appearance to present this film. As for the public, we hope to be able to find the “leg” of English in the animation of this short film.
