Keynote “Far out”: what’s new for September 7?

TheSeptember 7, 2022 at 7 p.m., Apple is organizing a new event with great fanfare at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. On this occasion, we should discover several electronic devices as well as their technical characteristics and the date of their arrival in store. With this, some well-known software could tell us more about the release schedule of their next major updates, some of which were already presented during WWDC last June.

Product announcements

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro: very likely

It is undoubtedly the iPhone 14 that will be the stars of the keynoteFar out. We would count them in the number offour, with the notable absence of the mini format in favor of a more affordable phablet.A 6.1-inch “classic” iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Maxwould therefore be there. The Pro models would be the only ones to abandon the notch in favor of a duo of punches, while the camera would be further improved on each edition.

The biggest surprise could concern the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max, which would not feature a new chip as was the case for the Apple Watch Series 7.A16 Bionic processorwould on the other hand indeed be integrated into the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. It is therefore expected thatthe release date of theseor postponed due to the shortage of chips, as was already the case with the iPhone 12 in the past.

During the keynote, Apple now has the habit of announcing the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro in two stages. Indeed, the technical sheet of the iPhone 14 Pro is more efficient and a number of improvements often only concern these models. Everything will be powered by iOS 16 (see below), and new cases with different colors would also be included. Finally, it is also rumored that thereverse chargingwould arrive for the first time on iPhone, perhaps with the added bonus ofstorage capacitiesupgraded but a wider thickness because of the improved camera. The rest of the rumors about these smartphones are relatively contradictory, including satellite connectivity for making calls without a traditional mobile network.

Apple Watch Series 8: very likely

The Apple Watch Series 8 could be the very firstserious design updateiconic of this connected watch. We would then be entitled to right-angled borders like on other high-end Apple devices. However, this still divides analysts, just like the integration of a thermometer but on the contrary enhanced autonomy with finally a real energy saving mode worthy of the name. The screen would also be enlarged, just a little.

Unsurprisingly, also expect Apple to offer newbraceletsdepending on the themes of the moment.

Apple Watch Pro : probable

Just after the Apple Watch Series 8, Cupertino could also unveil a versionmore resistantof the watch intended in particular for extreme sports, more efficient and more expensive. This could take the name ofApple Watch Pro, but nothing is less certain. On the other hand, it is assumed that new activities will then be supported while satellite connectivity continues to poll.

The concept would be similar to accessories from Garmin or Fitbit, specialized in this type of task but whoseprixis sometimes twice as high as an Apple Watch Series 7.

AirPods Pro 2 : probable

The AirPods Pro date from 2019, it's time to renew them. To do this, Apple would offer an improved design with perhaps thecomplete abandonment of stemsas many wish or at least a shortening. We also expect better autonomy but no additional colors in the program.

Severalpatentshave already clearly mentioned an article similar to such wireless headphones, as well as registration with an official certification body.

AirPods Max: unlikely

With this,new shadeswould be offered on AirPods Max. The helmet also continues to improve internally but there is no indication yet that it is ready for a true second version.

What is improbable

Beyond all these mobile devices, other clues point to two home devices as aHomePod/Apple TVwith camera for FaceTime or aGiant iPad15 inches like Google's Nest Hub Max. But for now, the calendars here are generally aimed at next year.

Regarding newcomputerswith Apple silicon chip, a Mac mini M2 and the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro are on the way but for an event probably planned for October. We also mention the case of a Mac Pro without an Intel processor and a 24-inch M2 iMac, again for a little later. As for the 27-inch iMac - also called by some iMac Pro 2 - it has reportedly been abandoned by the manufacturer.

At the same time as Macs inoctober, we could also see the iPad 10 and other high-end tablets arrive. Indeed, these are also delayed because Apple has officially confirmed that iPadOS 16 is not ready for September. Finally, in the case of the VR headset, augmented reality glasses or the Apple Car, it will be 2023 at least, 2024 at best, 2025 at worst.

Software ads

iOS 16, tvOS 16 and watchOS 9 release date: very likely

Unsurprisingly, Apple should also tell us at the Apple Event on September 7 the precise release date of its operating systems for iPhone and Apple Watch. Thereversion finaleof iOS 16 could be deployed the following week, the same for watchOS 9 which will perhaps have the added bonus of some new sports and health features not announced during the Worldwide Developer Conference and specific to the Apple Watch Pro. At the same time, tvOS 16 will land on Apple TV.

CarPlay: very likely

During WWDC, we were also able to see wonderful changes for CarPlay, capable of adapting to giant dashboards. This interface will however wait until end2023: this fall, only a few additional features such as additional service categories (fueling, towing, tolling) and sending messages without rereading with Siri will be included. Here too, these assets would have a release date of September 7.

Apple Classical : probable

For several months, developers have been able to discover mentions of anew classical music streaming app from Apple, which would complement the basic Apple Music offering. Its creation is starting to date and so is the acquisition of Primephonics, which seems to be at its origin. Under the nameApple Classical, this novelty therefore has a strong chance of seeing the light of day during the keynoteFar out.

La location d’iPhone : probable

Also in the works in recent weeks, an offer ofmonthly iPhone subscriptionto afford it without spending a thousand euros all at once. The rumors in the corridors have not announced a precise availability date for the moment but the payment in twenty-four installments has just arrived in France, which suggests that we are not very far from it…

macOS Ventura et iPadOS 16: unlikely

Finally, let's talk about the case of iPadOS 16 which is therefore officially inretardand will be absent from the keynote on September 7, 2022. This would be due to bugs with Stage Manager, an option also available on macOS Ventura and which would therefore also postpone this program to October.
