Wireless in-car charging of iPhone 15 finally works correctly

Remember: as recently as last October, we were reportinga bugaffecting BMW owners with an iPhone 15. As a reminder, users who tried to power the mobile with their car's wireless charging mat then saw the device go into data recovery mode after the operation. But that's not all, since then the smartphones restarted without the NFC chip continuing to communicate correctly, particularly with Apple Pay compatible TPEs.

Until now, we only knew that Apple had acknowledged the existence of the problem. Which means, as a general rule, that its developers are on hand to quickly implement a fix. And it turns out that this is precisely what has just happened, with the arrival of the iOS 17.2 update for iPhones. However, this is only accessible in beta version at the moment. More precisely, we are here atthe fourth advanced version.

What should I do if I am affected?

For users affected by this bug, several solutions should now be considered. The first being, obviously, to update the affected iPhone to iOS 17.2 in beta version. However, here it is: it is not an alternative to recommend for everyone…

Indeed, we can never point it out enough, but a beta version potentially contains many bugs. It would therefore be a shame to choose to update your equipment to resolve a technical problem if this causes new ones.

For app creators who use a test smartphone for work, however, the eventual update may be in order. But to install with full knowledge of the facts, for the reasons that we have just explained.

Many other new features are in the game

Beyond this bug resolution, we know that the iOS 17.2 (beta 4) version also comes with many other advantages. In particular certain features completely absent from iOS 17.1, which remains to this day the most advanced final edition that Internet users can download.

Among the advantages of iOS 17.2, we find in particular the possibility of making “spatial videos” using the back photo sensor of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Judge for yourself, the result is rather qualitative:

As a reminder, spatial videos are immersive content that can be viewed in three dimensions with the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The latter will be released in early 2024 in the United States. For the moment, however, its release date remains unknown in mainland France and the rest of the European Union.

The Apple Vision Pro will also be able to shoot spatial videos, thanks to its numerous integrated cameras. If the functionality is however confined to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models for the moment, on the smartphone side, it is above all because they embed a LiDAR radar. Unavailable onThird generation iPhone SE, on the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus, this technology makes it possible to better measure distances in augmented reality.
