The rumor has been circulating for several weeks. The famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had already announced in the fall that a new iPad Pro would be released on the market in 2021. Since this announcement, the rumors have never stopped around the Apple tablet.
There was first talk of the mini-LED. A new display technology which should arrive in 2021 onthe iPad Pro and on a MacBook Pro, before perhaps being transposed to the iPhone at the end of the year.
First quarter of 2021
In a recent report, Digitimes takes up Ming-Chi Kuo's announcements and gives an even more precise date for the launch of this new iPad Pro. This would be the first quarter of 2021.
A release planned for in a few months, which would launch Apple's 2021. This new iPad Pro would also boost sales of Apple tablets. The latter were in difficulty in 2020. Indeed, Apple seemed to want to gradually replace its Macs with iPads, but the release of its new M1 processor reshuffled the cards. The chip gives Apple's new generation of laptops extraordinary performance, a far cry from what the latest iPad Pro can do, with its A12Z chip.
An iPad Pro with an M1 chip?
To resolve this problem, Apple is reportedly considering including M series chips in its iPad Pros. If the tablet really has the vocation to compete with Macs on their territory, and no longer be satisfied with the in-between (between iPhone and Mac) that it occupies today. It must offer identical performance, or at least very close to that of MacBooks. But to achieve this level of performance, Apple's tablet must change processor, abandoning the iPhone's A chipfor M series processors. A change that still seems hypothetical in Cupertino.
