iOS and iPadOS 14.3: what changes and new features?

After the release of iOS 14.2 at the beginning of November, Apple logically moved to iOS 14.3 without much delay. Here is precisely what this new version of Apple's mobile operating system offers:

In addition to the correction of various bugs (notably that of not receiving MMS in the Messages app) and the improvement of the general performance of the OS, here is what the new version 14.3 brings:

• Photo :support for the new ProRAW photo format introduced by Apple during the announcement of the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max: the format can be set up in the iOS settings. Be careful, the size of ProRAW images is enormous, it would be around 25 MB per file. Editing ProRAW files is possible in the Photos app on iOS

• Video :support for 25 frames per second option
• Game :support for the DualSense controller of the new Sony PS5 console and support for the Amazon Luna game controller
• System :new third-party app recommendations section wheninitializationof iOS on an iPhone or iPad: it may not appear for all users. This would actually depend on the geographical area where the user is located and in particular on the rules in force in the region regarding anti-competitive practices.
• Shortcuts :return of the action allowing you to set up a wallpaper for iOS

• Sport :new VO2Max maximum oxygen consumption indicator offered in the Health app, based on data from the watch and the user's age and activity characteristics.See here for more information on this subject

• New Fitness+ app :arrival of Apple Fitness+ on iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2. Find different training sessions for various sports, recommendations, but also recommendations for content to watch (not available in France for the moment)
• Fitness+ settings:option in Fitness+ settings to activate or deactivate the sharing of information allowing Apple to improve the service
• Safari :Ecosia search engine support for the default search engine in the Safari app

• App Clips :support for these light versions of applications, allowing you to use a service without installation
• HomeKit and Home app :provide notifications for firmware updates for connected HomeKit devices
• Health :new “Pregnancy” section in the Health app to allow pregnant women to better monitor their pregnancy
• Weather report :Air quality is now reported in certain areas of the globe, with the help of the Breezometer database. This is the case for China, Germany, India, Mexico and the United States.
• Apple Music :album art can be animated, as was previously the case for playlist art
• iPhone 12 and 5G:the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max can now benefit from 5G in France.See our article on this subject

• Shortcuts :a shortcut launching an app, Mail for example, no longer displays the step of opening the Shortcuts app.See here for more details. This is particularly useful when you want tocustomize your app icons
• AirPods Pro Max :support for Apple's new headset including smart EQ, noise cancellation and spatial audio
• App TV :new tab highlighting Apple Original content, produced by Apple, as well as an improved search function (with categories, genres, recent searches and suggestions)

• Apple News :widgets are now available in the notification center
• App Store :for each application and its App Store page, a new mandatory section on the use of private data is provided by its developer.See this dedicated article to find out more
• Apple Arcade :new Apple Arcade game recommendations section
• Siri :improvement concerning the proposal of sounds and noises (of animals, vehicles, musical instruments, etc.),as seen there. Please note, these new Siri capabilities are not linked to iOS 14.3, but were deployed simultaneously. A device running iOS 13 must also be able to benefit from it
• HomePod :Improved use of a HomePod or HomePod mini speaker with multiple users. A noveltydetailed here
