To sell off its stocks of 8 GB configurations, Apple is temporarily offering themat a reduced price. The MacBook Air M2 with 8 GB of RAM is therefore priced at $899, although these configurations will no longer be stocked in the future.
A safe value for consumers
This leap forward in RAM is great news for consumers. Not only do you get more bang for your buck, but store stocks will now come with 16GB by default. No more unpleasant surprises!
This decision comes shortly after the launch of a series of M4 Macs, heavily promoted for Apple Intelligence. Among them,we find the iMac M4, the Mac mini M4 and M4 Pro, as well as theMacBook Pro M4/M4 Pro/M4 Max.
A reprieve before the transition to the M4?
If the MacBook Air remains in M3 for the moment for its highest configuration, this RAM boost offers Apple a respite before its move to M4 planned for 2025.
Apple Intelligence certainly works on all Macs equipped with an Apple Silicon chip, without requiring 16 GB of RAM. These 8 GBadditionalhowever, may be required for future updates to Apple Intelligence AI features.
