Apple and Nokia find common ground, Withings products return to Apple Stores

At the end of last year, Nokia filed a complaint
by filing a petition with a court in Germany and the
United States forviolation of 32
patents by Apple
.

The Cupertino company responded by filing a complaint in turn against
several entities holding patents, entities which allegedly conspired with
Nokia to claim excessive patent royalties. Apple also had
removed
Withings products from its stores
, a brand owned by Nokia.

This battle did not last long, as both sides had just
find common groundand ofsign a new
license agreement
.

This new agreement stipulates that Nokia will provide "certain of its products and
infrastructures" to Apple, in exchange, Tim Cook's firmwill hand over
all Withings products in Apple Stores
and their shop in
ligne.

Nokia will also receive a first payment from the Cupertino company, followed
of several others for the exploitation of several of its patents by
Apple.

In 2011, Nokia and Apple concluded a deal regarding the exploitation
of certain patents belonging to Nokia, but since then, the former giant of
mobile phone believes that Apple exploits several other of its patents.

Following the failure of negotiations with Apple at the end of 2016 to sign a new
agreement concerning the exploitation of its patents, Nokia had decided to carry
complaint.

Fortunately, the two tech giants finally managed to find enough
quickly find common ground. Jeff Williams, the head of operations at
Apple, says it is "happy to have resolved this dispute and eager to expand the
Apple's business relationship with Nokia.
