New competitor for Foxconn in the assembly of iPhone 13 Pro

While the next iPhones are supposed to be released in September according to most rumors, analysts' predictions about their potential sales results are becoming more and more pressing. According toNikkei Asia, which nevertheless reportedan industrial accident on the side of TSMCRecently, Apple was preparing to release 90 to 95 million mobiles from the factory by January.

If usually Foxconn and Pegatron are responsible for assembly, a new major player has just joined the picture: Luxshare. Yetaccused of forced labor earlier this year, the company would thus have succeeded in joining the very closed circle of the last links of the headed production chain.

At full speed

While Apple's subcontractors usually carry out the new tasks entrusted to them on older iPhone models, this would not be the case this time. While this is probably a sign of confidence on the part of Cupertino towards its supplier, others will believe thatpotential delays linked to the health crisisstill required rapid adjustments within the delivery schedule.

According toNikkei, Luxshare would be responsible - to begin with - for manufacturing the iPhone 13 Pro only. Available in two sizes (including the Pro Max and its 6.7 inches), these devices should be the most high-end at Apple when they are made official. On the menu: a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and extended battery life, information again still hypothetical.

Strategic acquisitions

One of the arguments that may have tipped the scales in favor of Luxshare may also be the recent additions to its long list of subsidiaries. There we find Casetek, which designs the metal frame of the iPhone shell in Taiwan, but also Cowell. Based this time in South Korea, the company builds the photo modules that sit on the back of laptops.
