Major new features for podcasts and podcasters with iOS 11

To listen to Podcasts on
iPhone and iPad, the simplest solution remains the Apple Podcasts app, which has
the merit of being relatively clear and refined. During the WWDC keynote,
a new version of the latter has been announced. And this brings
small modifications which may be well appreciated, both by the
users and creators. Apart from a restructuring of the app and a
new design, the app will indeed integrate new analysis tools
listening, as well as functions enriching information on the
episodes:

The Podcasts app, with iOS 11, should therefore see its interface be slightly
modified. Podcasts would also see their structure enriched. By
example, a system of seasons will be included, the user will thus be able to
download a whole season of episodes. There will also be the possibility of
specify whether a podcast is a classic episode falling within the framework of a
season, or if it's just a snippet or even bonus content or
another special episode.

On the creator side, Apple has planned new analysis tools to recover
information on listening to each episode, including knowing when
the user stops listening, in the same way as what is present on the side of
YouTube.

Ultimately, iOS 11 will bring some interest back to the Podcasts app
of Apple, which, in its current state, hardly compares with
other podcast listening apps like Overcast,
available here on the App Store, or even Castro,
available therewith their more complete functions, even if the app of the
Apple firm remains simple, practical and above all free.
