Last month, we learned
via The Investor newspaper that the Cupertino firmcould
make a significant investmenttowards one of its subcontractors
major players for the iPhone X, LG Innotek, responsible with Sharp for the assembly of
essential components for the proper functioning of recognition of
faces.
And here is another report from Korean newspaper ET News claiming
that the apple firm would work withtwo new subcontractors
Chineseto supply all upcoming iPhones and iPads this year
in 3D sensorsfor facial recognition.
Thus LG Innotek would be supported by two other suppliers of 3D sensors
which should avoid reproducing the situation of shortage of these components
at the time of the launch of the iPhone
production of the latter.
In addition, according to therecent
reportsfrom the reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, several machines would integrate
the Face ID sensor this year, namely an iPhone model with LCD screen
and two models with OLED screen, the successor to the iPhone
Plus.
The Bloomberg newspaper and its journalist specializing in the Apple world, Mark
Gurman, also recently affirmed that Apple would plan at least an iPad Pro
this year which would be equipped with the Face ID sensor of the iPhone X.
With all this, the demand for components for Face ID would be massive, although
higher than for the iPhone X alone, as is currently the case. So
therefore why Apple must strengthen its suppliers, hence a new
potential investment with LG Innotek and the addition of new sources
supply.
