CarPlay gets a new navigation feature

During thelaunch of iOS 13.4, Apple has also updated the operating systems of its other devices. But if the major changes mainly concern small products like the iPad, some also concern the software designed by the firm to equip theconnected cars.

CarPlay, in its most recent version, now offers improved support for third-party GPS services, whereas until now only Maps was concerned. The service is singled out for its numerous errors, and many customers therefore prefer to use Google Maps or Waze (also marketed by Alphabet), which are more reliable to follow a route without hassle.

No compatibility at the moment

Concretely, navigation apps could now be accessed using the modeSplit View, very similar tothe eponymous option available on Apple tablets. Practical, for example to view the route to a destination on one side of the screen and your calendar on the other.

Unfortunately, for the moment, no publisher seems to have taken this new feature into account, and neither Google Maps nor Waze support it. It will therefore probably be necessaryto wait fora few more days or weeks for developers to update their application so that it can run in less space without technical problems.

Furthermore, we can never say it enough: useCarPlay while driving is dangerous, increased risk when performing multiple operations at the same time as with this feature. The best thing is to use the touchscreen of your vehicle only when stationary, and to be guided by theassistant vocalensuite.
