Summary of tonight's keynote: Apple TV, iOS 5.1, new iPad and availability on March 16

had been waiting for it for months and the rumors, as usual, have
makes you salivate. At the end of this busy Keynote the new iPad was finally
revealed and now the wait until the release is going to be~~longue~~
short.

The Retina screen is there for the iPad 3 but Apple still has
managed to reserve some nice surprises for us despite the absence of Siri on
the tablet:

Whether you followed the conference with us or not, here is the summary of the
many announcements this evening:

A look back at the post-PC era

Alone on stage, Tim Cook begins by announcing that the computer is no longer
center of our digital universe. He continues with the traditional
presentation of the figures then of the Apple Store in Amsterdam open this Saturday,
a good opportunity to tour the different new stores with
highlight that of Grand Central in New York.

315 million devices sold in 2011
62 million in the last quarter
100 million iCloud users
585,000 applications on the AppStore including 200,000 only on iPad

The new Apple TV

iCloud now supports movies and enables the new Apple TV
to enter the cloud. This new version of the Apple TV supports the
1080p and features a completely new user interface. Photo stream and
iTunes Match will also be there.

It will be sold at the same price as the current Apple TV, i.e. $99
(€)

The new iPad

After announcing that many users liked the iPad, Tim
Cook took the opportunity to tackle the Samsung Galaxy tab a bit.

This time, it must be admitted, the various rumors, photos and leaks
gave us a good idea of what thisnew iPadhad to be. The long-awaited screen is
well there but it arrives with a multitude of changes of
components while the design remains almost identical.

The Retina screen in the spotlight:

The screen size has not changed, however.the resolution, she,
goes as expected to 2048 x1536, i.e. a quadrupled resolution and more than 1
million pixels and 264ppi extra.

With this new resolution, the colors will be more beautiful and the
44% better saturation.

The A5X processor:

Finally it is an A5X quad core processor that we will find in this
new iPad

iSight Camera:

At the back there is a much better 5MP lens using the principle of
that of the iPhone 4S. Auto exposure adjustment, autofocus, IR filter,
face detection, 1080P video. from now on the iPad will be equipped with a real
camera on the back. The icing on the cake, an anti-
tremor is also integrated.

A microphone for voice dictation but no
SIRI:

No Siribut only voice dictation for iPad 3.
It will be available in 7 languages including French. A taste of Siri according to Tim
Cook.

The 4G:

It's there but don't worry, 3G is also available and the iPad can
now transform into a personal hotspot.

The battery:

Even in 4G we will keep our comfortable 10 hours of battery life.

Measurements:

The new iPad will be a little thicker (9.4mm compared to 8.8 for the iPad 2)
and will weigh approximately 650 grams, or 50 more.
Memory side, 3 models: 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, but no 128 GB__.
Price side: 16 GB for $499, 32 GB for $599 and 64 GB for $699 in
wifi. For the 4G version it will cost respectively $629, $729 and
829$. It is therefore thesame price as the current iPad

The iPad would be available intwo colors, as it is
case since last year. You will therefore have the choice between black and
blanc.

Good newsit will be available from March 16 in France,
Germany, Switzerland, Japan, United Kingdom, Canada and US.The others
will have to wait until March 23.

The opportunity to make some updates:

Tim Cook took advantage of the Keynote to present the new versions of the
iWorks suite, Garage Band, iMovie All this is obviously
available today on the AppStore.

iPhoto, well known to Mac users, also makes its
appearance on the App Store and will offer very photo editing tools
complete(multi touch editing, navigation, transfer of photos between
devices…).iPhoto should be available today for
3,99€. We will have the opportunity to talk about it again.
