Connected objects: soon to reach a billion sales?

Just a week ago, analysts assured that the company which designs theiPhonebecame in the space of a few yearsthe leading seller of wearables* on the planet. Products designated by this term include AirPods Pro and Apple Watch, among others,which dominates Android Wear by a long way.

This success is not about to stop: according to the American company IDC, a specialist in this type of forecast, more than305 millionsof them will have been sold by the end of 2019. With, following, unfailing growth for all manufacturers.

Encouraging statistics

The most notable figure in the document published by the consulting firm concerns the state of the market in four years. By then, the number of wearables having found a buyer could reach more than489 millions, signifying an increase of 22.4% compared to today. If the trend continues, this data could therefore get closer and closer to the famous billion known by smartphones.

If we focus in particular on thehearables, these ear accessories such as wireless headphones, we see that more than 139 million units have been sold, a score which could double in 2023. Watches, for their part, would convince around 10 million consumers in addition every twelve months. Enough to consolidate the leadership position of watchOS, closely followed by Google's OS and its competitor Tizen (published by Samsung).
