Île-de-France Mobilité announced last month a measure which was rather eagerly awaited by Ile-de-France residents, since it involves the arrival of the Navigo pass on iPhone and Apple Watch. Since 2021, it is possible torecharge your pass in iOS, but not to use it. This is now only half true, becauseas expected, the capital's public transport establishment has just updated its application.

The Navigo Pass also benefits fromdirect integration into the Wallet applicationof the iPhone. Despite all this, it seems that unfortunately the most popular subscriptions are not supported.

Apple and Valérie Pécresse celebrate the measure
The Navigo pass on iPhone was eagerly awaited by residents of the region, especially since it has already been available on Android for more than a year. In order to inaugurate the novelty, Apple organized an event this afternoon in the company of Valérie Pécresse. The president of the Île-de-France region also gave a little demonstration for the occasion:

What's new
Thanks to the partnership between Apple and Île-de-France Mobilités, the Navigo pass is now entitled to aintegration into the Maps applicationfrom Apple, with the possibility of purchasing tickets directly via Apple Pay.
Numerama furthermore that:
it seems impossible to import titles from a Navigo Easy pass onto your iPhone (this is possible in other countries). To upgrade to the iPhone, you must wait for your existing passes to expire, then create a new pass in Wallet.
Disappointment regarding subscriptions
On paper, the whole announcement was intended to delight regular users of IDF public transport, but it was a disappointment for many. The Ile-de-France residents once again feel wronged and pushed aside. Since the beginning of preparations for the Paris Games, residents have criticized the city of Paris for making much more effort for the Olympiads than for Parisians.

The lack of support for Navigo plans on the iPhone once again reinforces this feeling, but it should only be temporary. According to Nicolas Lellouche “The annual package, the Liberté+ subscription and the Region tickets remain incompatible, a priori until 2025.»
