It's a particularly amazing week leading up tothe Apple conference next Monday! In fact, this is a first, sinceMonday, each day brings its series of new things. We thus had thenew iPad Air and mini, Thennew iMacs yesterdayand today, a long-awaited product has just been unveiled.
THEnew AirPods, Apple's wireless headphones, are official. This improved second generation is accompanied by awireless charging boxoptional., compatible with 1st generation AirPods.
As with previous announcements, the news broke through a press release.Apple launches Airpods V2.
These carry anew Bluetooth connection chipanswering to the sweet name ofH1. It allows a conversation duration extended by 50% but also the detection of voice commands “Dis Siri” intended to activate Apple's voice assistant. Finally, Apple says it shortens switching times from one iOS machine to another, drop-off time for calls and latency in games by 30%.
This generation 2 of AirPods has a design strictly identical to the previous ones.
The AirPods V2 are sold with a choice of a case always equipped with its own battery, with charging via lightning cable (like the previous generation), or with a case allowing thewireless chargingin addition to lightning wired charging.
This box is compatible withQi chargersstandards and is sold at a price of €89.
Note that hecan be used with first generation AirPods andthat it indicates recharging via apetite led verteadded to the front.
- AirPods 2 with “wired” charging case are sold at a price of €179 (unchanged from the previous generation)
- AirPods with wireless charging case are available for €229
Ordering is possible from today, with availability announced for next week. Delivery is announced (just after going online) after ordering for Tuesday March 26.
We note that these new AirPods will need iOS 12.2 to work, thenew version currently at the end of beta testingis therefore very soon, probably Monday evening.
