Updated January 19, 2024: The headset has been available for pre-orders in the United States since January 19.
Since last week's WWDC keynote, the summary of which can be found here, the Apple Vision Pro headset has attracted a lot of attention. Itstechnical sheetis enticing, as are Apple's promises. But it’s also its price that gets people talking. In fact, to treat yourself to it next year in the USA (and perhaps already in the coming weeks for developers), you will have to pay the tidy sum of3 499 $.
If there is not much doubt about the fact that the helmet will also arrive in France, possibly next year or in 2025, uncertainty remains as toits price in euros. Because at Apple, the conversion from dollar to euro is difficult to understand. Indeed, it is not enough to apply the current dollar/euro exchange rate to obtain the price in € of the revolutionary Apple Vision Pro (which is around €3,250 by the way).
The best strategy to apply in these cases, in our experience, is to compare prices on hardware currently on sale at Apple, between the American online store and the French online store. It is with this method that we were able to find out what the Apple Vision Pro headset should cost at home, in local currency.
3 13″ MacBook Air for an Apple Vision Pro headset
Remember that the Apple Vision Pro headset will cost $3,499 in the United States. Today at Apple, you can find the Mac Studio M2 Max at almost the same price ($3,498.99) if you equip it with Final Cut Pro, 96 GB of RAM, a 38-core GPU and a 1 TB SSD. The same machine on the Apple France online store can be found at4 128,99 €.
This gives a first idea of the potential price of the Apple Vision Pro headset. To confirm this, let's find a second example. Let's turn to cell phones. The 16″ MacBook Pro, configured with M2 Max chip (12-core CPU and 38-core GPU), 1 TB SSD and 32 GB of RAM is sold for €3,499 precisely across the Atlantic, while here, Apple offers it to us for4 149 €.

For the same amount, therefore, $3,499, we obtain two slightly different prices in euros: €4,128.99 and €4,149.
It can be concluded that the Apple Vision Pro headset will cost approximately€4,130 in France upon release. Or even more, if inflation continues to rise in the meantime. In any case, it is almost certain that it will cost no less than €4,100, the equivalent of 2.96 times the current monthly minimum wage for 35 hours a week...
Fortunately, Applewould already workon amore affordable version of the helmet, but for an even more distant release than that of the Apple Vision Pro. So, to all fans of what Apple calls spatial computing, be patient!
