- The first testers seem won over by Apple's VR headset, which could democratize the model internationally
- This could be open to third-party developers and give pride of place to gaming
- Jony Ive would have participated in the project, with Phil Schiller in particular
Journalists only have this word on their lips: Reality Pro. Under this name lies perhaps Apple's first mixed reality headset, giving pride of place to a 4K screen, tailor-made autonomy thanks to removable batteries but also and above all great potential for the figure of Apple business. The company could thus, ultimately, replaceyour iPhone with this product.
The opportunity to come back to the various rumors about the device which, according to us, prove that it already has everything it needs to be great. Between commercial forecasts, technical characteristics, design and software: let's do the math.
1 – The first testers would be won over
To begin with, how can we not mention the case of a first direct testimony concerning the user experience of Reality Pro?Evan Blass, one of the references in terms of leaks on the smartphone market, reports that a tester who had the chance to take the headset in hand would have been very pleasantly surprised by its value proposition. Judge for yourself:

We can also citethe casefrom the founder of Oculus VR,Palmer Luckey. According to him, Apple's virtual reality headset would be like this “very good“. There is no doubt, however, that this is more of a simple troll than anything else, given that the chances of seeing such a profile accessing preview information at Cupertino are close to zero. Let us remember, however, that Luckey is close to Meta, who bought his company and whose latest Quest Pro could be a direct competitor to Reality Pro. But his opinion, perhaps based on the most recent rumors, still counts in view of his experience in VR.
2 – Apple knows how to revolutionize a market
With this, let us remember that when Apple arrives on a market, it is generally not for nothing. Quite the contrary: the firm is rather known fordemocratizejust about anything, from smartwatches to touchscreen smartphones to fingerprint sensor to face recognition on mobile.
The arrival of Reality Pro would however remainto nuance, given that unlike thesmartwatches, smartphones or biometric unlocking, virtual reality has not yet proven itself among the general public. However, Apple is more likely to wait until clear and clear validation from the market before launching into a new vertical. And the company has every interest in doing so, given the walking disaster into which Mark Zuckerberg has embarked with his “metaverse” and bad calculations.
3 – The hidden strength of Apple and the iPhone
Another advantage of Apple: its community of developers. The group knows how to unite, and for a long time since theApp Storewas still launched in 2008. It is this audience that will be present, above all, during the WWDC and its opening keynote – on June 5. A perfect opportunity for first tests of Apple’s 360-degree platform.

Moreover,Sony or HTC still have difficulty convincingwith a cruel lack of basic services (communication, utilities, productivity, etc.), but this is what promises to be one of the major strengths of Reality Pro. Its software ecosystem, between FaceTime and Messages, would give pride of place to third-party studios. Moreover, in general, when the manufacturer launches a new product, the creators are the first to follow suit. This can be explained in particular because consumers are ready to pay more on iOS than on Android, even if everything is not all rosy with the staggering 30% commission on in-app purchases that Apple charges.
4 – Gaming and entertainment
To go further, you should also know that Apple is preparing a portal dedicated to sports streaming in virtual reality, with a neutral decor similar to that offered in the cinema. But it is above all the emphasis placed on gaming which should confirm Apple's position as world number one in video games, acquiredthanks to mobile titles on iPhone and iPad, which is reassuring.
According to Mark Gurman, it isPhil Schillerwhich would have pushed Apple to go all out on gaming. The multinational's marketing director has been one of its thinking heads since the return of Steve Jobs in 1997. He notably worked on the development of the iMac, the iBook, macOS and even the Apple Watch connected watches.
5 – Jony Ive at the helm
Finally, it is also Jony Ive who would have participated in the Reality Pro project. Ennobled by Queen Elizabeth II, the specialist was the chief designer at Apple before his departure in 2019. We have also seen him work with Ferrari or Airbnb, but his main achievements are of course the iPad, the first iPod of name and the original iPhone.
After leaving Apple, Jony Ive continued to work with the company asconsultant. He would thus have participated in the definition of the new guidelines for the iMac chassis, which with the version powered by an M1 chip has revised its format from top to bottom. The mixed reality headset, for its part, should stand out from the ordinary with a compact and lightweight visor, thebatteries being worn around the waist in a belt.
