On the occasion of the keynote
of the last WWDC, Apple unveiled its version of the connected speaker, the
HomePod, which focuses on sound and for which we have detailed the
featuresin this
article. Journalists present at WWDC were able to listen to it and
donnertheir
first impressions.
The connected and intelligent speaker market is attracting more and more people
major brands, after the Amazon Echo, the Google Home, the Invoke
Microsoft and Apple's HomePod "soon", Samsung could launch
alsohis own enclosureworking withBixby,
the voice assistant ofGalaxy S8.
Indeed, according to a new report from the American newspaper Wall Street Journal,
the Korean firm would be working on an active speaker project which would have the
internal code name "Vega".
This would workwith their new voice assistant
Bixbywhich was unveiled at the same time as the Galaxy S8 but which is not
not yet fully operational in English due toproblems of
voice recognition.
However, Samsung will have a lot to do, because the speaker sector
smart devices is currently dominated by Amazon with 70% market share,
followed by Google Home with 24%. Microsoft will release its Invoke speaker in
fall 2017, followed by Apple's Homepod in winter probably for Christmas.
The Korean firm will first have to improve its Bixby voice assistant which
still experiences problems with voice recognition in English, and for the
French is not straight away.
