The unmissable

Diablo Immortal

We can't talk about 2022 and iPhone gaming without mentioning Diablo Immortal. It's probablyTHE biggest release on iPhone this year, signed Activision Blizzard. You will find the classic mechanics of Diablo games, all adapted to touch screens and modernized with superb graphics. The game is complete, with the possibility of playing solo or completing quests in multiplayer mode. Football Manager 2023 Mobile

Voilàanother classic, Football Manager. On iPhone, you can play the 2023 Mobile version which simplifies certain aspects of the game for a less simulation style than the Touch version available on iPad and in Apple Arcade.

Oh yes, and if you don't know Football Manager, in a few words: it's a game in which you have to fight against yourself so as not to forget real life. Apex Legends

2022 saw this title arrive on iPhone and iPad while it was already available previously on consoles. This is a first-person shooter, multiplayer Battle Royale mode. If you haven't tried Apex Legends yet, honestly, go for it, it's aexcellent cruin its genre.

Marvel Snap

Card games are always popular on iPhone and iPad, especially when they are well done and take advantage of a very particular universe. The publisher Nuverse understood this well by releasing, in 2022, Marvel Snap, a card game in the universe of Marvel heroes. It's up to you to put together the best deck of 12 cards, each representing a character from the comic book universe, to win in short and always fun games. We especially like the charactereasy to accessof Marvel Snap and of course, thelicence Marvelto which this game serves particularly well, and vice versa.

Hearthstone

Hearthstone is not a new game on iPhone, far from it. On the other hand, this year, it was embellished with several extensions. There were precisely 3, each withits share of very attractive new features. Activision Blizzard has a knack for constantly renewing its popular card game, and it was done brilliantly again this year, in our opinion (which is not everyone's opinion). The key additions for Hearthstone were the introduction ofnew Naga minionsin the new adventure “At the Heart of the Sunken City”, from thenew “Places” card mechanicin the adventure “Murder at Castle Nathria” and thenew class “Death Knight”in the adventure “March of the Lich King”. If you have never tested Hearthstone or have neglected it for a while, here is the opportunity to come back to it, you will not be disappointed! For my part, I have been playing it with great pleasure and without spending a cent for many years.

Street of Rage 4

If you have played a Street of Rage game in the past,you will love this opus. And if you've never played a Street of Rage game before,you will also love this opus… This is not a remake of an old version seen on an arcade or other old machine. Street of Rage 4 is a sequel, designed for modern gaming media. In a flying atmosphere, go into battle alongside different heroes and make your way through the city to the different bosses. All moves are allowed, even the most spectacular. We love it!

Iron Marines Invasion

We already liked the first episode of Iron Marines, we loved this second opus, titled “Invasion”. Besides, we are fans of the studio which created this gem of 2022,Ironhide, which can boast of having one of the best catalogs of games on iPhone. Special mention for its Kingdom Rush series, which can also be found in Apple Arcade with Kingdom Rush Frontiers TD+. In Iron Marines Invasion, we find everything from real-time strategy mechanics, with nice graphics, aexemplary achievement, a gripping adventure with varied missions, and a particularly well-crafted universe. The game is reminiscent of the legendariesStarcraftand othersCommand & Conquerof yesteryear. There are worse references!

OPUS: Echo of Starsong

What a game, but what a game! This is trulythe title that gave us the biggest slap in the face in 2022. It's beautiful, it's gripping, it's deep, the players love it, the specialized press does too, what more can I say? Let yourself be carried away in a unique, touching galactic adventure, driven by high-quality dubbing, a masterful soundtrack, but also and above all, beautiful designs. I lack the superlatives to make you want to download this title. Don't let its price hold you back, OPUS: Echo of Starson is a major game of 2022 and one of the best adventure games on iPhone, iPad and even on Steam!It is well worth its price.

Papers, Please

Papers, Please was originally released in 2013 on PC. It's only since 2022 that we can play it on iPhone and iPad, and not without a certain joy! Even if the atmosphere of the game doesn't really invite you to smile... Because you play as an immigration agent employed at a border post. Your task is rather simple on paper: you must control all the people wanting to enter Arstotzka, a fictional country formerly at war with its neighbor. Papers, Please is areal beautiful pearl, unique in its kind, but above all very well done and therefore very gripping.

Dicey Dungeons

Game in the roguelike genre with turn-based combat, released on PC in 2019 and on consoles in 2020. Since 2022, it is also available on iPhone and iPad. Try, in each of its levels, to go as far as possible and beat the final boss. Your successes will progress your characters and unlock new rules. We especially appreciatethe quirky atmosphere that reigns in the game, also very addictive.

Dysmantle

In a post-apocalyptic world, try to survive against all the difficulties encountered: shortage of materials, hostile monsters, hunger, thirst, injuries, etc.

The realization isparticularly neatand the general quality of the title is to be commended. Dysmantle's App Store rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 is not there to contradict us…

Total War: Medieval II

Total War games rarely disappoint and this Medieval 2 episode is one of thosewhich push the series even higher in the list of legendary licenses. Be careful though, Total War: Medieval II, like other Total War games,is not to be put in everyone's hands. But if like us, you like history, strategy and management, then you will greatly enjoy the experience. It's about experiencing epic battles in the Middle Ages, with 17 different playable factions, each with their own characteristics. And if you want to extend the pleasure, an extension is offered as an in-app purchase for 4 additional campaigns and 24 factions... Enough to make your head spin!

Honorable mentions

Here is a batch of games that we also liked in 2022, without having reached the status of the previous references on our list. However, it deserves no less consideration:

  • Rovio Classics: Angry Birds: one of the most iconic games on the App Store has returned in 2022 to the delight of gamers on iPhone and iPad. Find the angry little birds and use their determination to remain masters in the art of destruction
  • Angry Birds Journey: for a slightly more modern version of the previous game, with new mechanics, a lot of fun, but content to be unlocked via integrated payments, when the Classics version is available as a premium download
  • Mounting:a very nice visual puzzle game
  • Company of Heroes Collection: it's in old pots that we make the best RTS. Feral Interactive has understood this well, by offering in 2022 an iOS port of one of the best real-time strategy PC games of the 2000s, Company of Heroes. Relive the epic battles of World War II, from Normandy to Berlin, and enjoy breathtaking production in this critically acclaimed title
  • Dyslite :a top-level achievement and a very original style for this role-playing game drawing inspiration from mythologies around the world
  • Bus Simulator :his name couldn't be more telling. The simulation aspect is specially respected in this creation by Astragon
  • Growing Up: Life of the ’90s :Thirties will love this life simulation game in which you play a character growing up at the end of the last century. Many references to the 90s are obviously present, for a guaranteed immersion in one of the best decades of the modern era (without any impartiality…)

Air Twister

Third-person shooter with auto-advancement. The mechanics are classic. The title rather shines with its visual style, its excellent soundtrack and its addictive character underpinned by a certain requirement.

Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins

Be careful, as cute as this game is, with its Indiana Jones fan frog, progressing in it is not a walk in the park. The platforms are full of obstacles and traps. It's up to you to show good reflexes and, above all, patience to bring the frog to its safe destination. With hismany qualitiesand its webbed-fingered heroine, this game can beparticularly popular with younger players.

Wylde Flowers
