Our previous selections:
Without further ado, here is our ranking of the best games of 2019.
The unmissable
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
After Pokémon Go, Niantic studios had a lot to do to try to match the record for downloads of the game in augmented reality. For this, they chose to partner with another important license, that of Harry Potter. Augmented reality is still in place, in this new game which has been highly anticipated. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was released this summer, it was not the tidal wave everyone expected from Niantic, but it is nevertheless an excellent title that we recommend to everyone .

Call of Duty: Mobile
Strong return of the Call of Duty license on mobile this year, with this action shooting game that has nothing to envy of PC games of the same genre. Breathtaking graphics, sophisticated atmosphere, successful ergonomics and above all, regularly updated content. The title even supports MFi controllers, while a multiplayer mode allows you to have fun online against other human players. Appreciated by the general public, the game also received critical acclaim, winning the award for best mobile game at The Game Awards 2019.

Minecraft Earth
The famous Minecraft license is playable on mobile in augmented reality this year, in this new game that many fans have been waiting for. Minecraft Earth is therefore a construction game based on the universe created by the Mojang studio bought by Microsoft in 2014. A particularity of this title, as announced above, it is played in mixed reality, that is to say that you can see your constructions and those of other players in real life.
In addition to being able to assemble any objects into works of art, buildings, etc. Minecraft Earth offers a story mode, to be done alone or with others. Its potential is enormous, and it is certainly one of those unmissable 2019 releases.

This is the most downloaded game from the App Store in 2019. And suffice to say that Nintendo's performance is to be commended, given that on iOS, competition is still fierce against giants like Fortnite, among others. But the Japanese developer seems to have succeeded with this mobile port of the Mario Kart license.
He particularly thought about adapting the ergonomics of the game, with karts to be driven with one hand. Festive atmosphere, beloved characters from Nintendo games, multiplayer games, we really enjoyed playing Mario Kart Tour.

Every year, Football Manager returns, each time richer, each time a little better. And as good football fans in the editorial office, we are obviously big fans of this football club management game license.
And we see it at every major competition, in France, there is not one coach of the French team, but almost 70 million, given that everyone seems to know better than anyone else which players to play and with what tactics. But thanks to FM 2020, it is possible to test your skills at the helm of a major European club or a national team. Will you have strong enough shoulders as a manager? This is the real question here.

Here is a title presented on stage during Apple's 2018 back-to-school keynote. Its aim was to show the graphics capabilities of the new iPhone chips released during this period. And indeed, the game, finally released at the beginning of this year, is extremely beautiful.
It also benefits from the richness of the world of The Elder Scrolls, which role-playing game fans know well. This “Blades” episode is exclusive to mobiles and really has nothing to envy of the other titles in the series playable on PC and consoles.

The release of an Alien game is always an event. This Blackout episode is no exception to the rule. Published at the beginning of the year, it features Amanda Ripley, daughter of the famous Ellen Ripley, in a survival adventure facing the famous xenomorph. The production is of a high level and cold sweats are guaranteed!

Pokémon Masters
New success for the Pokémon license this year, with this title which uses more classic gameplay than Pokémon Go. The player must manage a team of trainers in order to win the World Pokémon Masters tournament taking place on the new island of Passio in the world Pokémon. Obviously, hundreds of beasts are on the program for tactical battles and evolutions to master.

Dota Underlords
Dota is one of the biggest video game successes of recent years on PC and especially its sequel, Dota 2. Its publisher, Valve, this year offered its first mobile game inspired by the world of Dota, Dota Underlords. More precisely, Dota Underlords uses the principle of a Dota 2 mod: Dota Auto Chess. The latter experienced a dazzling triumph when it was released on computer. And on mobile, the game is also very popular.
Findhere is our announcement of the release of the Dota Underlords game on iOS.
Our favorites
Dead Cells
One of the best roguelikes available on iPhone and iPad. Dead Cells was released in 2018 on PC and consoles. It received critical acclaim and was a good commercial success for its developers. It boasts magnificent graphics and an extremely addictive, even if difficult, premise. Dead Cells did not steal its place in the best-of games 2019.
See our presentation of the Dead Cells game here.
Journey
Like Dead Cells and many other PC games this year, Journey is a mobile adaptation of a game originally released on computer. It is a unique adventure of its kind, carried by a certain poetry, which is transcribed as well in the music, the design and the graphics, but also the story. We really enjoyed Journey, we recommend it, it's really one of those titles that leaves a mark and doesn't leave you indifferent.
Findhere more details about Journey.
Hyper Light Drifter
Another title that we particularly liked this year. Don't be put off by its retro style, Hyper Light Drifter is a nice game. It is also a descendant of Zelda, Secret of Mana or Diablo. It offers a truly captivating experience, supported by a high-quality soundtrack. Don't miss Hyper Light Drifter!
Seeour presentation of Hyper Light Drifter.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Another PC to mobile port, and another quality one. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes can be played with several people. It is a puzzle and speed game, in which a player must defuse a bomb without any information on how to do it. But he is helped by the other playmates who have access to the defusing manual. An original principle for a game that we recommend without any hesitation.
Seeour article presenting the game Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.
Beat Cop was originally released in 2017 on PC. It features police officer Jack Kelly, returning to his neighborhood police station to start from scratch after murder accusations, in a pixelated New York. This is an excellent point-and-click title, with a gripping storyline and high-level writing. Honestly, one of the best of its kind.

Vertical space shooter in the purest tradition of the genre. The graphics are quality, the fluidity is there and there is no shortage of enemies. Very enjoyable, Space Justice was bound to appeal to all fans of the genre, but also to convert the uninitiated.

Here is a game reminiscent of one of the best iOS games, Rayman Fiesta Run. Spirit Roots is certainly inspired by it, but still brings refreshing ideas. In short, it is a nice 2D platform game, in which the hero can jump on his enemies, but also eliminate them using weapons, with the aim of recovering all the orbs of each level.

- Dr. Mario World – here on the App Store: another new Nintendo game of 2019 with Mario Kart World. Et Apple Arcade ?
Apple Arcade is this subscription video game service launched by Apple last September. It allows, for 4.99 euros per month, or49.99 euros per year, to access a catalog of several dozen exclusive and premium games, that is to say free of advertising and in-app purchases. Some of these titles constitute excellent video game experiences. We have selected two of them for 2019, while the Apple Arcade service should see a more substantial catalog in 2020:
- Oceanhorn 2 – here on Apple Arcade for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: sequel to the excellent game Oceanhorn which we particularly appreciated in the editorial office. So we were particularly waiting for this new episode, and we weren't the only ones! And like the first, Oceanhorn 2 won us over. You play as a knight going to fight the forces of Mesmeroth, the mage and his Dark Army. Solve numerous quests, improve your character, discover different story branches worked on, in short, lose yourself in one of the best games of 2019, with unparalleled immersion.
- What The Golf – here on Apple Arcade, for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: another very good, original Apple Arcade game. Make golf courses, but in the least realistic way. Send a man into the hole, an egg, a house, or even a bike... Completely offbeat, What The Golf is a game that we loved!
