While the price of
the iPhone
meet accordingly. It is indeed the most expensive iPhone
never released, with prices starting at1,159 euros in France,
for a 6′ GB configuration only. Apart from these, Apple has aligned its
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus as an evolution of the 7 and 7 Plus, at lower prices
accessible. Still, iPhone 8 stocks and sentiments following the
pre-orders could foreshadow an attraction within years
previous ones, with the idea that perhaps some are in fact waiting for the iPhone
X ?
This was precisely the object ofour last
survey, which aimed to estimate your choices in terms of model for a
renewal at the end of 2017. And the result may be surprising if we
only trust the price… and the comments read in our columns!
The numbers
To the question “Which iPhone model did you choose this year?”, 7
answers were proposed:
- "iPhone X"
- "iPhone 8"
- "iPhone 7"
- "iPhone 6s"
- "iPhone SE"
- “None”: for those who have decided not to renew this year
- “I don’t know yet”: for the hesitant
- "I'm leaving Apple"
The raw numbers:
Out of more than 5,000 voters, this is theiPhone Xwho takes the
piece and thisvery far ahead of the iPhone 8, followed by the
choice not to renew this year.
To analyze the purchasing choices declared in terms ofpreference of
model, if we remove those who do not yet know and those who do not
not renew, the iPhone66% of preferences
or 2/3 of those whobuy a new machineand have
already chosen. A figure very, very higher than those who fell for the iPhone
8, which shows 18.8% (less than 1 in 5), followed by last year's iPhone 7
at 6.3%. We note that 3.53% decided that the grass would be greener elsewhere,
which remains weak.
So of course, thepopulation affected by this survey is very
specific! iPhon.fr readers are of course strongly
accustomed to the brand and appreciate the novelty. Even more so after 4 years with
a similar design. Still, the price could have been a real obstacle, it
seems that this is not the case!
And yet, in a recent survey this summer, you were
more than 3 out of 5 not considering putting more than 1000 euros in a
smartphone. Apple would thus have succeeded in seducing with its new machine,
to the point of breaking the bank?
Analysis and comments
As usual, beyond the figures, your comments are very
instructive. They say a lot about the attraction to this iPhone
as can happen during a survey, it remains difficult to identify
written feedback a craze as strong for the iPhone
show. Would the majority remain silent?
In any case, according to you, the iPhone
offering not enough changes compared to old models. In
practical, Apple has proposed an iPhone "7s" leaves the door open to its
real novelty of the year. If the iPhone 8 had included 2 or 3 new features in
more, probably the scores would have been closer.
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus remain quite close in terms of specifications to the
two previous models, which associated with the price explains that an owner
of iPhone 6s or 7 does not want or need to change. This is often the case
moreover from one year to the next, when the design does not change. For those
which will not move to the X, this one although new in terms of design, remains
on the one hand very expensive, high-end requires, but can also cause fear
not yet working perfectly. We then retain the expectation of a
"XS" model for next year.
Besides that, only a few of you were attracted by
old models, 7, 6s or even SE, benefiting from rather accessible prices and
however attractive characteristics, particularly for the 7 which remains a
excellent choice.
Finally, a few dozen voters decided to leave the firm at
apple and leave the iPhone aside for the moment, with the Samsung Galaxy
which, over the years, are increasingly establishing themselves in high-end Android,
or even Huawei with the P10, a model mentioned by one of you.
To conclude, the major information emerging from this survey remains the
impressive percentage of participants who will turn to the iPhone
X.
It is difficult to generalize to a more general population, however,
results being seen here through the prism of tech and Apple fans, already equipped
of iPhone. This still portends serious difficulties
of supply for Apple, with production of iPhone
tricky when Apple starts a completely new model.
Remains to be confirmed, with the next iPhone pre-order figures
X, if the enthusiasm is as this survey suggests. Hoping
that Apple had planned its move!
