Less than 2 months before the keynote
of September which should see Apple announce its new iPhones, including the iPhone
8 long awaited and symbolizing the 10 years of the device, and like every
period preceding the launch of new devices, iPhone sales are
in the trough during this summer. The iPhone 8 is expected to arrive with
new technologies. Logical therefore, that it arouses a certain interest and a
desire to purchase on the part of consumers.
In parallel,
some analysts anticipate a “supercycle”for Apple and iPhone, with
a high renewal rate. Some buyers preferred to spend on
models 7 and 6s. This was precisely the object ofour last
survey, which aimed to estimate the potential market for future iPhones by
raising the question of the next renewal.
So here are theresultsand analysis of this recent survey
which saw over 3000 responses and numerous comments.
The numbers
To the question "When do you plan to change your current machine?",
four answers were proposed: "As soon as the new iPhones are released
2017", "At the end of the year", "Next year", or "In 2 years or more".
Of the more than 3,400 responses counted during the writing of this
synthesis, you are in the endalmost 2 out of 3 readersto have
planned to move toa new machine by the end of this
year. For some, it will be a new model, for others, a
years gone by, the fact remains thatfor 62% of
YOU, this year is synonymous with iPhone purchases.
No less than 42% wishing to renew as soon as the new iPhones are released,
we imagine that many of you want to buy an iPhone 8 or iPhone 7s/7s
More. Then, 1 in 5 participants will renew in 2018, and about as many
plan to wait even longer, until at least 2019.
Comments and analyzes
The iPhone 8 which should be released this year will probably integrate
technologies such as OLED for the screen, iris recognition for
security, or even a 3D sensor for augmented reality, among others
new technologies (wireless charging, new design, large screen
edge to edge size, etc.).
Precisely, the design should differentiate the anniversary model from the iPhone
more classic, who have kept the same dress for several generations
now, 6, 6s, and 7.
It should arrive accompanied by two more classic models 7s and 7s Plus,
evolutions of the 7 and 7 Plus, with a design close to the latter.
It is still unclear whether Apple plans to offer a device
"concept" at the top of technology, but at a price well beyond the
a thousand euros, or to keep a high-end device at a slightly lower price
superior to iPhone 7s and 7s Plus.
The Apple firm in any case has a lot to play for this year, for this
anniversary date of the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and following numerous rumors about
the now highly anticipated device.
As expected, among the comments, some of you are waiting
looking forward to the iPhone 8, having owned an iPhone for 3 years or more. But the
majority of you are divided between those who have just renewed for a
6s or 7 and those who will turn to a 7s or 7s Plus and not an 8 due to
at a price anticipated to be very high. In fact, the "s" model remains more
attractive for some, synonymous with a more finalized model with
Improved technologies compared to the previous non-'s' model. Hence a
certain attraction for the 7s, but also for the iPhone of the following year,
8s.
The comments also show that the trend is
generally keep your machine for 2 or 3 years, even if some keep a
sustained pace, namely a new iPhone each year, thanks to resale
second-hand for some.
Conclusion
In the end, this survey allows you to realize that even if you are
many to anticipate a renewal for this year, the comments make
rather tip the balance towards an attraction towards the 7s and 7s models More than
for the iPhone 8, mainly due to the price which is likely to rise well
beyond the symbolic bar of 1,000 euros if we are to believe the latest
rumors about it.
This financial parameter could well have a major influence on the figures of
sale of the iPhone 8, as well equipped as it is. See you in less than 2
months to find out everything about this new machine during the start keynote
september.
