4G: the Bouygues Telecom offensive takes shape

Unlike its competitors like
Orange which is gradually opening up the 4G network city by city,
Bouygues Télécom has done
another technical choice
which allows it to launch its 4G network
more massively. It isnext October 1stwhat
the operator will launch hostilities.

Even if 4G is not available for everyone, Bouygues announces a
coverage rate of 63%of the population. But it's not
everything, the operator will also bethe only 4G network accessible to
iPhone 5 in France
(seethe video here) :

For this launch specified last night, Bouygues made several
announcements.

Bouygues indicates that it covers 63% of the population (not the territory, it is
different!) from October 1st. This is one of the effects of reusing
Edge frequencies by the operator. A subject that wehad discussed here when
ARCEP gave its agreement last March

Furthermore, so that potential customers can get an idea of
the coverage and quality or not of the proposed 4G network, Bouygues
offers a free month of subscription. In practice, until the 17th
October, those who wish can go to a store to
subscribe to an “eco” 4G package whose first month will be free and which can
then be canceled free of charge for one month.

Finally, and this is what will interest us even more in the deployment of
this 4G network on frequency bands formerly dedicated to 2G, 4G
of the operator is the only one compatible with the iPhone 5__ in France. We have
discussed the subject in this article.

At the same time, Bouygues announced its new 4G packages, including one which
will target mobile web addicts with no less than 16 GB of Fair use per month…
enough to see coming! The range of 4G plans starts from
€29.99 per month without commitment or mobile.

Bouygues' bet on these frequencies will therefore materialize in a few
days, while SFR and Orange are therefore less advanced in the
deployment. Will this change the situation and cause a migration? We
will see him in a few months.

And for those who wish to compare prices, offers and
blanket :

Question: are you interested in 4G, to the point of changing
operator and pay more for the subscription?
