While you and I are quietly browsing in search of juicy information on the Apple brand, others have already taken charge of the new advanced version of macOS unveiled during the WWDC opening keynote. Nicknamed Ventura in honor of the Californian city of the same name, it can be downloaded free of charge bydevelopersbut its final edition will not arrive for the general public until this fall.
To our greatest happiness, the journalists ofAppleInsiderwere able to try the software for several days and report their findings in a long file published inpartnershipwithCleanMyMac X (notre test). Let's take stock of what comes out of it, almost two weeks after the program's release.
Benefits…
To start,AppleInsiderexplains that the arrival ofStage Manageron the big screen is a welcome change that allows you to better manage your work with several windows at the same time. This feature is also available on tablets, butonly when they are equipped with Apple silicon chips.
Second bonus:Camera continuity, which does very well, particularly with Desk View mode. This uses the ultra-wide-angle sensor of the iPhone 13 Pro which, when it is clipped to the back of your MacBook, captures live what is happening on your desk. Here too, we explainwhat this ingenious solution consists of in a dedicated article to be found right here.
With this, the macOS Ventura test also reports significant improvements on the side ofSystem Preferencesas well as other new options also found on iOS such as editing Messages or removing backgrounds with Photos.
…and disadvantages
As recalledAppleInsider, this edition of macOS is however only intended for the most experienced developers. It also contains several bugs or inconsistencies that will need to be corrected in the medium term, particularly with search or authentication. Moreover, the second generation iPhone SEis not supported for Camera Continuity even though Apple states otherwise.
Finally, macOS Ventura requires a certain amount of power that is too high for someold computersApple powered by Intel processors. It is therefore better to wait until September, or even longer, to install the operating system on your own machine.
