Test of LifeProof iPhone 4 waterproof protection (2nd gen.)

You remember that we have you

recently presented the liquipel, a product that aims to make
your iPhonewater resistant without having to add a
hull.

However, this technique will not be available quickly for our
iPhone and this reminded me of the caseLifeproofthat I had
tested in this
billetand for which, I had been quite rightly harsh.

Having had the hull for some time
Generation 2 Lifeproofand having this time appreciated this version
in the December rain, I offer you a new complete test of this V2
compatible with iPhone 4 and (under certain conditions) with iPhone
4S :

I will not return to the complete packaging, very well done which will protect
the hull during transport.

Compared to generation 1, the Gen 2 shell also has 2 small lugs on the
same plastic as the shell above and below the vibrator and
volume, which provides additional protection for these buttons.

The shell remains as thin and light as ever, which is clearly a good
point, especially for a waterproof hull.

Once the iPhone is in the case, it is protected from everything, dust, water,
mud and even shocks (except if your screen falls on a corner), which could
prove to be of great use if you plan to take your iPhone to the sea, to
snow, use it in very dusty places (construction, work
public for example) or simply use it in the rain.

This time, the hull proved to be perfectly waterproof (my Gen. 1 had to
have a defect) even after several assembly-disassembly.

Touching on the touch screen is certainly a little different because you have to
press a little but, frankly, nothing too dramatic, you get used to it
quite quickly.

The shell being quite thin, the grip is good but I have to
recognize thatit is not always easy to go through the entire
the screenwith one hand and I understand better why Apple does not
apparently does not want to exceed 4 inches for the screen of its iPhone.

The sound is slightly muffled and it's quite logical with the protections
waterproof but you can always open the lower dock part (to be avoided
in a humid or dusty environment 😉) to find better sound.
Be careful, during telephone conversations, the interlocutor does not have a
perfect reception, it will be necessary to provide the hands-free kit otherwise you will no longer
beings called 😉 .

VioletetRose, which doesn't spoil anything.

As I told you in the preamble, the case is compatible with the iPhone
4 and under certain conditions with the iPhone 4S.

Indeed, as we indicated to youin this post,
Apple moved the iPhone 4S's light sensor by a few millimeters
on the left.

If the iPhone 4S fits into the case without any problem, the black cases and
purple (the white and pink ones apparently pose no problem)
cover the sensor part which therefore always lacks light.

To counter this concern, Lifeproof suggests either scraping the inside of
painted plastic (solution that I will avoid to preserve the design and avoid
hole the protection), or to remove the automatic brightness adjustment
of your screen to adjust it manually.

Now, as this photo shows, Lifeproof should offer quite
quickly a generation 3 which will solve this little problem.

Ultimately, if you want to protect your iPhone in all circumstances or
simply on vacation (snow, sea), the improved Lifeproof shell
(the first one was not good at all) will do a very good job. It allows to
film and photograph underwater with very good quality, for this,
as the touch screen is not functional underwater, you will have to use the
Volume button to start and stop shots. But no
worry, it is accessible without problem!
