Last week,Donald Trump signed a historic decree banning all American transactions with TikTok and WeChat. It didn't take more forByteDance, the Chinese company that publishes the music video application, is looking for a solution. And the solution could well come from the American judicial authorities.
Indeed, according to the mediaNPR, TikTok is reportedly planning to file acomplaintin the California courts where its local headquarters is based. Objective: to demonstrate that the measures taken by the businessman at the head of the second world power are unconstitutional.
Solid arguments?
TikTok intends in particular to highlight thelack of right of reply, as well as the unfounded accusations that were allegedly made against him. Because it is true that, despite numerous suspicions andparticularly strange behavior, no irrefutable evidence has yet made it possible to confirm any links between the data collected by the application and potential voluntary espionage by the Chinese government.
Trump's decree will take effect forty-five days after its signing, but this type of legal procedure sometimes takes several months, TikTok should still think about new solutions until then. Do you think that the consequences will be similar to those which followed the blocking ofHuawei?
