- A design has imagined a concept for watchOS 10, with new widgets
- The operating system is expected to be released in June
- For the moment, however, we don't really know what it will look like.
In less than two months the traditionalWWDC, which will bring together hundreds of developers in California to discover the new products that Apple is preparing for its connected watches. The future wearable operating system, in particular, has every chance of being presented during the opening conference of the event. The software will probably be titled watchOS 10, if the publisher does not change its habits.
For now, however, we know almost nothing about the changes this version will bring.Parker Ortolani, a designer already seen at work in the past with similar concepts, has therefore put his hands to work to offer us a video model of the upcoming program. In particular, we discover a complete rearrangement of the home screen, giving pride of place to personalization. An area that makes sense, since Apple now seems to be focusing on it more and more, as proven by someiOS 16 improvements.
What if watchOS deemphasized launching apps and introduced a new more customizable home screen with widgets and live activities, a fresh take on the glances and dock ideas…pic.twitter.com/EsSt5vOPQw

Time for widgets
With its concept, Ortolani also gives pride of place to widgets, notably with a4×4 for the weatherwhich already seems to be gaining traction on social networks. There is an icon corresponding to the weather outside, the temperature as well as the location chosen by the user for monitoring.
At his side, the graphic designer imagines deportingshortcuts to several key appsamong the most used on Apple Watch, such as Mail (email inbox), alarms or Shortcuts. It is impossible to know whether this model will catch the eye of Apple and its interface specialists, but there is no doubt that Ortolan now has its own fans right up to the highest levels of Apple.
here's another example, but instead of a mix it's all widgets and live activities – effectively transforming the home screen into glanceshttps://t.co/okJnLVhFTI pic.twitter.com/9rnWABjwaa

Potential release date
The 2023 Worldwide Developer Conference will be heldfrom June 5 to 9on the west coast. The opening conference, for its part, will take place on Monday 5 at 7 p.m. for the French zone. It is during this that we should discover watchOS 10 alongsideiOS 17, iPadOS 17 and the next version of macOS, for computers.
However, this does not mean that the operating systems will be immediately available to the general public afterwards, far from it. Indeed, after the announcement, Apple generally offers developers to test the software for many weeks before a deployment is planned for all other devices. For the latter, it is rather the month ofseptemberthat we must aim for, during which the supposed Apple Watch Series 9 would then be ideally suited to be the first to natively embed the new OS.
Floored by the reception to my watchOS home screen revamp concept. 🙏 Guess that just shows how hungry folks are for a big watch update! 🤓pic.twitter.com/pk6qzPnCZs
