Little by little, the visionOS App Store is adding more and more applications, especially since Friday February 2 and the official release of Vision Pro. If popular developers like Cultured Code (Things) or Adobe already have their visionOS apps, others, like Google andNetflixare still shunning Apple's new platform.
The Mountain View giant, for example, saiddo not plan YouTube applications for visionOS. Worse still, the firm will prohibit the YouTube app for iPad from running under visionOS. Because, if you didn't know yet, any iPad application can be used on visionOS, without needing to undergo a code change. Of course, an iPad version of a visionOS app will not benot as well suited as a native visionOS app. But it can be used in particular by smaller developers to port their application to the Apple headset with a minimum of effort.
For the YouTube problem in any case, everything seems already resolved thanks to Christian Selig. The latter, best known for its Apollo for Reddit application, now offers a new visionOS app, calledJuno for YouTube.

As you might have guessed, this allows access to Google's video platform from the Vision Pro, in an interface adapted to the headset.
The user then benefits from native controls and can:
- resize window on the fly
- position the window where he wants in the space in front of him
- control playback as YouTube allows
- log in to your Google account to benefit from YouTube Premium if subscribed

The developer still warns thatsome bugsmay still be present at this stage. The app is very fresh. But overall the experience should already be very satisfactory.
It seems to us that the Vision Pro constitutes aexcellent entertainment device, to play, watch films, series or simply videos. It is therefore surprising to see Google not wanting an official YouTube app on visionOS. Fortunately, third-party creators don't see it that way.
It remains to be seen how to enjoy Netflix and Spotify on the headset now, while it seems more complex for a third-party visionOS app to have access to one or the other of these two catalogs. Unless you use Safari and the web version of the service. But the experience would then be far from perfect.
