Apple finally “allows” its employees to reveal their salary

Started during the summer, the #AppleToo movement denounces discrimination at Apple to which certain employees are victims. These would result in particular in lower salaries for the interested parties, a minority of whom have since contacted the American equivalent of the industrial tribunal in search of solutions. From, the reactions of the parent company were, however, relatively discreet

Zoe Schiffer (NBC News), who has been investigating the subject for several months now, nevertheless managed to get his hands on a recent message sent internally. We first learn that Apple's policy is not to restrict its teams when it comes to freely discussing their working conditions. And this even thougha recent dismissal seems to be a sign of the opposite.

How much do you earn at Apple?

Among the questions that come to the forefront most often and that Apple mentions in its letter, that of payroll is probably the most crucial. This is in fact a key indicator of possible disparities which would not exist.

According to data provided by the specialist site Glassdoor, an Apple Store salesperson can earn on average around two thousand euros per month whereas a Genius Bar technician specializing in Mac repair can hope to pocket around thirty-five thousand in a year. Managers, for their part, are obviously better off with almost sixty thousand euros per year in certain cases. Developers, too, are doing quite well, with remuneration in a range similar to this last figure.

Management as interlocutor

The memo written by Apple also adds that beyond the private and media sphere, talking about problems encountered with your hierarchy is also encouraged (mmmmh, and mediation?). The American firm did not comment on the matter when this leak was published, which occurred during the night from Friday to Saturday – French time. However, it is a safe bet that even if this progress is welcome, it only arrives too late to weigh in the balance in the face of the various accusations brought against the Apple in court.
