Apple is working on a foldable iPad according to analysts

Recently, we presented to you aconcept of a foldable tablet, halfway between the iPad and the MacBook. Well, such a machine would not just be a concept, according to analyst predictions. The Economic Daily News newspaper reports that the latest report from the company IHS Markit mentions a project in progress at Apple regarding aiPad pliable.

The information is quite brief regarding this machine. It should have a screen of a size similar to that of the MacBook, around 12 inches diagonal.

5G support would also be there according to the source. And this indication is important, especially when trying to imagine a release date for such a device.

The foldable iPad, not before 2021-2022?

According to the latest information, Apple has notno 5G iPhone planned before 2020. The manufacturing of 5G modems in-house would take place in 2022. A tablet with 5G support should therefore not appear before 2020 logically with a third-party modem, and 2022-2023 with Apple modem.

There remains the problem of the foldable format. Samsung burned its wings with its first foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold. The machine, from its launch, has in fact experiencedmany problems, particularly at the fold of the screen. It was withdrawn from sale with apologies from big boss DJ Koh, while the manufacturer corrected the situation. Andthis would have been resolved, it seems, according to Bloomberg. Despite everything, the competition remains cautious about this technology, as shown by Huawei's choice to postponeto Septemberthe release of its foldable smartphone model, the Mate X.

In addition, Apple is generally not among the first manufacturers to take advantage of a new technology that is newly available, apart from a few exceptions. It is therefore logical to count on at least 2 to 3 years of waiting before seeing the Cupertino company try the foldable screen, as the IHS Markit report implies.
