Apple Store: iPhones updated without taking them out of the box

This has probably happened to you before. You buy one of the latest iPhones in the Apple Store or on the Internet and, upon opening it, you have the unpleasant surprise of discovering that it is not up to date. Of course, this is not prohibitive, but it is sometimes frustrating to have to wait when you would like to test the device under normal conditions, or to see certain bugs appear.

A very welcome device

And precisely, in its latest Power On newsletter onBloomberg, journalist Mark Gurman informs us of an innovation in Apple's stores which should greatly please its customers. In fact, the Cupertino company has developed a process that makes it possible to update the operating system of iPhones before they are marketed, without having to open their packaging.

Our colleague thus underlines:

Apple is planning a new system for its retail stores that will update iPhone software before sale. The company has developed a proprietary tablet-shaped device on which the store can place iPhone boxes. This system can then turn on the iPhone wirelessly, update its software, then turn it off, all without the phone's packaging being opened. The company plans to deploy this system in its stores before the end of the year.

It is too early to say, but this innovation could also concern other products from the Apple brand in the future. We are thinking in particular of the iPad or Apple Watch. For your part, what do you think of this new system? Tell us in the comments.
