When iOS 17 “forces” user tracking

As reported by our colleagues at 01net, several iPhone users have noticed areactivation of certain privacy settings in iOS settings, after installing iOS 17. The problem does not affect all machines, but if in doubt, it is better to carry out the following check:

  • Go toSettings > Privacy & Security
  • Continue to “Location Services”
  • Scroll down to continue in “System Services”

Here at the very bottom there is a paragraph titled “Product Improvement”. This contains 3 options that you can deactivate if you want to prevent Apple from collecting information regarding your use of the iPhone. With the update to iOS 17, these three switches can in certain cases return to an “on” position.. Switch them to “off” if you do not want to share this data, however anonymous it may be.

We invite you to take advantage of your presence in these “System Services” and “Location Services” pages to make the necessary adjustments in order to best position your cursor between a total cessation of sharing of user information and maximum openness. Obviously, blocking everything will prevent some of your applications from functioning optimally. It's up to you to take the test and find the right balance.

Notice to readers having switched to iOS 17 or iPadOS 17, have you noticed a reactivation of certain confidentiality settings on your iPhone or iPad?
